Dear Louisville Thoroughbred Society Investors and Members,
The Louisville Thoroughbred Society is writing to share important updates with you regarding our progress, and most importantly our valued concern during these uncertain times regarding the Coronavirus, COVID- 19. Just a week ago, no one could imagine the state of our public health. On behalf of the entire LTS team, we are deeply saddened for everyone affected by the impact of this virus. We are taking every precaution to ensure the safety of our members, staff, vendors, guests and public facing interactions.
We also want to thank each of you for your patience and continued support of LTS. In this letter, we have included updates regarding construction, staffing and the LTS website. Progress is being made daily to deliver Louisville’s newest and best premier club experience.
LTS Welcomes New General Manager
We recently embarked on a nationwide search to identify a hospitality professional and leader to join LTS as the General Manager. We partnered with the executive search firm, Kopplin, Kuebler & Wallace which yielded many qualified candidates. Through an intensive screening and interview process with
in-depth conversations, we are confident that we have found the perfect fit.
Please join us in welcoming Mary Painter, of North Carolina, as the LTS General Manager, and, more importantly, community liaison. Mary comes to us with extensive experience in the private industry, */including business development, event management, community relations and exceptional member experiences. Throughout her career in hospitality, Mary has developed several successful business ventures; leading with brand development and marketing to align with the company’s core mission for growth of business clientele.
Mary’s career began in food and beverage management within the hotel industry. Mary would transition from hotels to private clubs in 2001, where she would pioneer education, training and development for many young professionals seeking a career in hospitality and event management. Her most recent General Manager/COO positions include River Run Country Club in Davidson, N.C., and at The Cliffs in Greenville, S.C. where she worked for six years.
Mary is a Certified Professional in Catering and Events (CPCE), accredited by the National Association of Catering Professionals (NACE). She is also an active member of NACE and the Club Management Association of America (CMAA). On a personal note, Mary enjoys all things food, the art of cooking and never misses an opportunity to entertain or host a dinner party.
Mary joined us on February 24th. As the General Manager, she will embark on many responsibilities; her first call to duty will be to interview, hire and train an elite staff in support of a robust event calendar, grand opening and exceptional member experiences at the Louisville Thoroughbred Society. Mary is eager to meet you and to enjoy all that Louisville has to offer.

We are overwhelmingly pleased with the construction progress as it moves us closer to the opening of the premier Louisville Thoroughbred Society. In working with our construction team, we identified features “change orders” to enhance the member experience as well as a few nostalgia features to add to the layered history of this magnificent building. Detailed woodwork, historical bar, custom humidor, layers of tile, mortar and brick, along with building safety features and state- of- the- art audio/visual are nearing the finish line. As with all construction projects of this caliber, we have a few areas that will prove to be a challenge in meeting an opening date prior to June of this year. Mother Nature has not played nice causing a few additional delays in the completion of the rooftop garden, smoking pavilion and adjacent parking garage structure; key elements in our opening schedule. We are working with the engineers and construction team to pinpoint the completion date of these projects; we will keep you updated during the final stages of the construction.
While we do not anticipate the opening of LTS to be in conjunction with the Kentucky Derby in early May, we are planning a robust event calendar and Grand Opening for early summer of this year; providing a memorable and high touch member experience as we launch the premier Thoroughbred Society of Louisville. Plans are also being made for “sneak peek” events and appreciation tastings scheduled to happen in the coming months. Thank you for your patience and continued support. Progress is moving fast, and many great things are happening daily. We will keep you updated as we move closer to our opening date and planned events.
