A high-end members-only club centered around Thoroughbred horse racing has named a new leader as it eyes a new opening date.

Mary Painter was recently named general manager of the Louisville Thoroughbred Society, which plans to make its debut downtown in early August.

The nearly 13,000-square-foot club has been under development for years in the former Fetzer building at 209 E. Main St. and will house a number of amenities for its members once it opens, including a rooftop terrace, smoking pavilion, an upscale humidor, cigar lockers and lounge, on-site wagering and simulcasting, special events dining and bars.
